There were two houses. Both beautiful. Both built by the water. From the outside, they looked nearly the same—strong, inviting, full of life. But what no one could see was what mattered most: the foundation.
One builder dug deep. He took his time, anchoring every stone into solid rock. The other? He built quickly on the sand, eager to enjoy the view and the comforts of his new life. For a while, both homes stood tall. Sunlight beamed on their windows. Waves whispered against the shore. Life was good.
But then the storm came.
Winds roared. Rain poured down like judgment. The ocean surged with fury. And when the skies finally cleared, only one house remained—the one built on the rock.
“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”. Matthew 7:25 (NIV)
Jesus wasn’t simply giving a building lesson—He was warning us about the foundation of our lives.
Because the storm will come.
It may be a storm of sickness. Persecution. Betrayal. Financial collapse. A crisis of faith. The loss of a loved one. A season of silence. The kind of storm that shakes everything we thought was secure.
And when it does, only one thing will matter: the foundation we stand on. The bedrock on which we have built our lives will ultimately be revealed by the storms life throws at us. So let us pause and reflect: What are we building on?
Are we rooted in God’s Word? Are we trusting, believing, and standing on the truth of God—or are we relying on comfort and convenience? Have we built our faith on feelings, or on the unshakable Word of God?
God never promised a storm-free life. In fact, Jesus said in John 16:33:
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Christ has conquered the world—and every trial, tribulation, and storm that comes with it.
So we can rest assured: when we build our foundation on Christ, we will survive any storm that comes our way. No matter how fierce it appears, we will not fall. We won’t crumble. We will withstand.

Building one’s house on the rock demands that we are not hearers of the WORD only, but that we obedient ALL of Christ’s sayings. The scripture.
So let’s dig deep. Build wisely. Let every prayer, every Scripture, every act of obedience to the Word of God be another brick in our foundation. Because when others are swept away, we will be still standing—testifying that our life is built on CHRIST, THE SOLID ROCK.
Remember, “A storm-proof life isn’t built in good weather—it’s built on Christ, the solid rock.”
“When the storms hit your life, what reveals itself about your foundation?”
