Relinquishing Control To God

The manufacturer controls the process and usefulness of the products. Similarly, we should allow God, our creator, to be sovereign in our lives.

There is something in some of us that propels us to be in control at all times. We feel the need to exercise control over every area of our lives by any means possible. No wonder the world today is adamant about living their best life; Doing what one thinks is right in their own eyes, regardless of consequences or impact on others. There is also a craze about doing whatever makes one happy. But, is this the best way to live our lives; Doing what pleases us and us only?

The bible tells us in Ephesian 2: 10,  For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), [a]recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].  He created, then recreated us in Christ. He is our manufacturer.

Manufacturers create their products with specifications, outlining everything there is to know about its product.  Each manufacturer preprograms their products with all it needs to function correctly. A product does not dictate nor negotiate with its maker details of its ability or function; The product does the job the maker specifies. The manufacturer creates the product; the product then does what it is made to do. The manufacturer controls the process and usefulness of the products. Similarly, we should allow God, our creator, to be sovereign in our lives. Accepting who He created us to be, with full assurance that we have all that we need to become.

It is important to note that our maker included a unique feature within us, this makes us extra special. He created us with free will. We can choose whether we become who we were created to be in Christ or the opposite,  a lesser version of who we were made to be. Furthermore, if we are in control of our lives, then God is a bystander. He will stand on the sidelines as long as we are at the helm. He will not wrestle control out of our hands. He gives us the freedom to do and to be what we think is right.

Being in control of our lives limits us from becoming all that we can be.  We’ll Consistently be stressing about things that are going wrong and how to fix them. On the other hand, allowing our omniscient God to have preeminence in our lives, will free us from planning, controlling, assessing, implementing, etc. Therefore being less cumbered with life, we can worship and praise him for working on us and perfecting His craft within us.

I’ve realized that there is nothing that I can do to bring about the results that I want by myself. I am lacking and need to hand over the manufacturing process. Surrendering to God and allowing Him to lead us will yield far more and better results than we could imagine. Remember, God is sovereign, He is the one that is truly in control;  It is, therefore, necessary that we relinquish the controls to God.

Be blessed.

See you along the God-directed path.
