Don’t Believe The Lies Of The Enemy

It is important to note that it is when we believe lies that they have power over us.

I am on a journey to become. The journey has been a long and winding one. I am, however, resolved that by God’s grace I will achieve what God has planned for my life.  Throughout this journey, I have met many obstacles, one of which is lies from the enemy; Lies about myself, about others, about God, and everything between.

I have been told that; I’m inadequate, and I’ll always be; I’ll never measure up; God will never answer my prayer; I can’t wait on God; I’m all alone, and I have to handle everything by myself: No one understands me; No one cares about me; God requires too much of me; I’ll never be who God wants me to be;  In addition to; If God favors you, things will become easy, why then is your life so difficult?  God is tired of picking me up; I am not supposed to lose anything if I am a Christian; I am worthless; I don’t have what it takes, and I never will. The list goes on and on.

John 8:44. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. If he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it. The fact is, the enemy is full of lies

What I’ve realized is that the sly old fox not only brings false assumptions to our minds, he also used people around us to plant his lies; People who we love and trust. Sometimes, he uses people to oppose us, who spew lies to hurt us. I must confess, there were times along the journey that I’ve believed his lies.  Sigh.

The first sin ever committed was as a result of Eve believing the devil’s lie. Genesis 3:1-6.  Hundreds of years later, we are dealing with the consequences of that initial sin. That is an indication that believing the devil’s lies is not a light thing. Giving in to his lies comes with long-lasting consequences.

The devil sees it necessary to infiltrate our minds with lies because he wants to keep us from recognizing who God is; and who we are in Christ. And most importantly, he wants to keep us from accomplishing the plan and purpose of God in our lives. If he gets us to believe his false claims, he can keep us insecure, fearful, and defeated. Believing his lies has debilitating effects and can inhibit us from walking in our purpose.

It is important to note that it is when we believe lies that they have power over us.

If we filter our thoughts through the word of God, we will be able to decipher the truth of God, as well as the lies of the devil. This will help us to immediately reject all lies from the devil. In Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus quoted the Scriptures each time the devil approached him.  With Jesus as our example, we also need to meet the enemy’s lies with the word of God.

I now realize that there are truths in the word of God to counteract every lie of the devil. The scripture has gotten me through some rough patches. The bible tells us that the truth shall set us free. The word of God is that truth that God has provided to set us free from the lies of the enemy. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” ‭‭John‬ ‭8:32‬

I am grateful that during periods of weakness – being trapped in a lie from the devil – God refuses to allow me to sit and deteriorate. He always sends His word, His truth which helps when I need it.

The devil will always try to get at us with his lies, we might say it’s inevitable.  BUT when he comes, we have the Word of God to remind him who our God is, who we are in Christ, who he is, his destiny, and where he needs to get off.

See you along the God-directed path.

Be blessed.
